About Company:

The partner is an industrial potash provider with research facilities where some of this research will take place.

Project Description:

The research program will investigate free fall electrostatic separation and relevant fundamental phenomena, including triboelectric charging and the surface chemistry of potash particles. The objective of the research is to advance the potential application of electrostatic separation of potash ore in Saskatchewan.

Research Objectives/Sub-Objectives:

  • Literature review and summary
  • Experimental development, setup, execution, and problem solving
  • Data collection
  • Theoretical development
  • Publish research manuscripts (first authorship and co-authorship anticipated)

Methodology:

Expertise and Skills Needed:

It would be beneficial if the postdoctoral fellow had knowledge of any of the following topic areas: solid state physics/chemistry, surface chemistry, surface imaging and analysis, including synchrotron-based methods, triboelectric charging, electrolytic transport, and potash processing. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to work in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment. A demonstrated ability in the publication of results in the scientific literature and/or industrial experience in a relevant field would also be viewed as an asset.
