A new postdoctoral fellowship position for one year is available at the Cross-Border Institute, University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario. The incumbent will be working with Drs. William Anderson and Hanna Maoh of the University of Windsor and a team of researchers from Inovex Inc. led by Mr. Rohit Shanker, P.Eng. to develop models for short-term prediction of border crossing times for trucks. The position is funded by the SOSCIP-Talent Edge program and Inovex Inc.

|Key Responsibilities:||The hired post-doctoral fellow will work on developing the mathematical models needed to perform accurate short-term predictions of border crossing times over a range of 1 to 2 hours. The post-doctoral fellow will also collaborate with the Inovex Inc. team to facilitate the development of a smartphone app that can be used by truckers to obtain reliable real-time information about the time they will require to cross between Canada and the US when they arrive at the border in 1 to 2 hours. The developed app will also be used to deliver notifications about potential delays at the border.|
|Required Qualifications:||• Must hold a PhD degree in computer science, electrical & computer engineering or civil engineering with a focus on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic forecasting.
• Strong background in machine learning techniques including but not limited to artificial neural network models, deep machine learning and Big Data mining.
• Advanced expertise in SQL and computer programming
|Special Skills:||Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to process and visualize GPS data is an asset.|
