Do you want to work on an original research project with strong impact on PhD employment?

​​Adoc Talent Management and McGill University are investigating the specific competency sets that Canadian PhDs acquire while working towards their degrees and during the early stages of their careers. Our goal is to assess the extent to which these skills meet the specific requirements of the Canadian job market. Ultimately, we aim to compile a list of recommendations for PhD candidates, PhD degree holders, universities, and employers with the objective of using concrete competencies to match PhDs and employers.

We are looking for a Researcher in Advanced Education to oversee this innovative project. Depending on your qualifications, you may conduct interviews, help to develop a large-scale survey, collect data, engage in data analysis and the development of an effective competency model.

This position is an 8-month term assignment as part of the Mitacs Accelerate program, with potential for renewal depending on available funding.

You will:

  • Conduct focus groups and semi-directed interviews with the goal of better defining the skills / competencies of PhD candidates and graduates;

  • Design a large-scale survey both in French and English;

  • Participate in  data analysis and the development of an effective competency model;

  • Be expected to publish your work in peer-reviewed journals;

Your profile:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s, PhD or postdoctoral program in Psychology, Education or a relevant discipline;

  • Experience with education / competency / work research;

  • Strong interpersonal skills;

  • Fully fluent in both French and English, since you will conduct focus groups and write reports in both languages;

  • Enthusiasm and a strong taste for new challenges!
