ARC-NL Postdoctoral Fellowship
Applications are invited for the ARC-NL Postdoctoral Fellowship: Aging in Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a 2-year, fully funded post-doctoral fellowship. We seek a highly qualified individual to join the Aging Research Centre – Newfoundland and Labrador (ARC-NL) to investigate topics related to older adults in Newfoundland and Labrador. The specific research question is open, but should be related to one of the following issues within the Newfoundland and Labrador context: aging in place, age-friendly communities, labour force participation among older adults, socio-economics of aging, social isolation, rurality, technology use by older adults, elder abuse, or aging in indigenous populations. Previous research experience in any of these areas would be considered an asset.
Preference is for the position to be based at the Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, but it could be located at any campus of Memorial University. The fellow will join ARC-NL and have access to all of its resources, including research space, a participant database, and a group of researchers and students dedicated to the study of aging. Information about ARC-NL can be found on our website (www.grenfell.mun.ca/arc)
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in any discipline, with relevant experience in the study of aging and ideally working with community and government partners in collaborative research by the start date. The candidate will be expected to develop a research program that includes older adults at each step. This research can be carried out under the supervision of any faculty member of ARC-NL, co-supervised by a member of ARC-NL’s Core Leadership Team. The supervisor(s) will be determined based on the successful candidate’s research plan.
The salary is $45 000/year plus benefits. The position is for an initial term of two years, with the possibility of renewal. Start-date is January 2021, however, this date is flexible but must begin by March 1, 2021 at the latest. This competition will remain open until the position is filled.
Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found. Review of applications will begin on Nov 15 2020.
To apply please send a CV, a short letter summarizing your research interests, a research plan for the fellowship, and contact information for two references to Dr. Veronica Hutchings, director of ARC-NL, at arc@grenfell.mun.ca.
